Annascaul

Annascaul, Abhainn an Scáil meaning ‘River of the Shadows’ or “Ford of the Heroes” is a village on the Dingle Peninsula and located close to Inch Beach. 

It is the birthplace of Antarctic explorer Tom Crean who was a member of three major expeditions to Antarctica during what was known as the heroic age of Antarctic Exploration. It is also a popular area for walkers with routes such as Annascaul Lake, Toma Crean Trail, Macha na Bó Trail and many more routes for beginners to more advanced.
