Slea Head

Pictured above is the pinnacle of the Slea Head Drive, a circular route around the Dingle Peninsula. As part of the iconic Wild Atlantic Way, this route is absolutely breath-taking and a must do while in Kerry!

Take the backseat and enjoy, while we take you around this drive on the Wild N Happy Dingle tour!

Why Slea Head?

Slea Head is along the Wild Atlantic Way and and is known for its stunning views of the Blasket Islands, twisting and turning coastline, and off the beaten track feel.  Just past Slea Head is a place named Dunmore Head. This is technically the most Western point along the coastal edge of Europe. So if you decided to become driftwood, your next stop would be Canada!

On our Dingle tour, we take you on a loop walk around Dunmore Head to take in the vast views of ocean blue and get a feel of the fresh, cool ocean breeze.

Aside from the amazing landscape, Slea Head Drive passes several worthy-of-attention landmarks such as pre-historic forts, beehive huts, and the Blasket Islands.

The beehive huts, also known as the Fahan Beehive Huts, is a group of five stone huts that were likely used as single family dwellings. While these are the only ones that remain, there used to be over 400 of these huts in the area. Fun fact- these remaining huts date all the way back to the 12th century!

Still on the fence whether you want to go to Slea Head?

Here are some testimonials from people who have traveled with us on our Dingle tour.

When we got to Slea Head, our tour guide, Dariusz took us out for a walking tour on the bluffs, where we could explore the coastline and really get an appreciation for this awesome landscape. Dariusz was very knowledgeable about the locale, and made every effort to insure that we had a good time. My words really can’t do justice as to how nice this view really is.”  – Alan T

Consider Mor Active Tours the craft beer of tours anywhere in Ireland. We biked Dingle and Slea Head. Each corner we turned was more beautiful than the last, and our day was enhanced by historical and folk stories from Michael and Francis.” – Kim D
